Nine static anterior acquisitions of 2 min were required for counts correction for background, decay and attenuation and to analyze the pulmonary and extrapulmonary deposition according to recent international recommendations (Fig. 2) [24] 24].
Although this detector was designed primarily for imaging applications [21, 22] and has an 11 × 11 anode readout scheme, it provides the large detection volume required for the counting application developed here.

Our finding that XCI is still initiated in female cells with a ΔXTX deletion, however, indicates that the overlapping region covered by the ΔXTX deletion and these transgenes [15], [16] is not required for the counting process.
Despite the extra calculations required for carbohydrate counting, dosing deviations were not significantly different between groups.
However, our results on TMAs suggest that this approach may permit higher throughput, less sensitivity to heterogeneity and, perhaps, increased sensitivity given the larger tissue requirements and more laborious method required for TMEM counts.
The PAE was defined according to the formula: PAE (in hours) = T- C, where T is the time required for viability counts of an antibiotic-exposed culture to increase by 1 log unit above counts taken immediately after dilution and C is the corresponding time for the growth control, as previously described [ 1].
The PAE was calculated as follows PAE = T − C, where T represents the time required for the count in the test culture to increase 1log 10 cfu/mL above the count observed immediately after drug removal and C represents the time required for the count of the untreated control tubes to increase by 1log 10 cfu/mL.
The PAFE was calculated by the following equation: PAFE = T-C, where T represents the time required for the count in the test culture to increase 1 log10 cfu/ml above the count observed immediately after drug (hydroxychavicol) removal and C represents the time required for the count of the untreated control flask to increase by 1 log10 cfu/ml.
Consequently, balance should be struck between the selection of the sampling frequency versus the S/N required for reliable photon counting postdeconvolution.
