The language of social media — "fans," "friend request," "like," "social network" and, yes, "status update" — is increasingly appearing in advertising, whether or not those ads are running in social media like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
People are more likely to respond to a concrete request, like a 20-minute coffee meeting to discuss the potential mentor's career path, than to an open-ended cry for help, which could potentially turn into a burdensome time suck.
No wine gums or any ridiculous request like that.
