The request for waivers of various privileges was made in a letter that the district attorney's office sent to the governor on Monday, and a response was requested by 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
In a statement, he called it a "significant and welcome change to its policy regarding requests for waiver of the corporate attorney-client privilege," adding, "The new policy ensures that the department will evaluate corporate cooperation based on the information provided, rather than whether or not a corporation waived the privilege".
The president's campaign calls those accusations absurd, noting that the recent requests for waivers came from five states, including two — Utah and Nevada — which are governed by Republicans.
"The decision he makes will set the precedent for requests for waivers he might get from other cities, whether it's Mount Vernon or Yonkers," he said.
The panel's recommendation for an independent group was to verify launching readiness, track flight-related problems and oversee requests for waivers from established flight rules.

The U.S. Department of Education announced Tuesday that 11 states have formally submitted requests for waivers from key provisions of No Child Left Behind.
Additionally, a few states, such as Georgia and New Jersey, pledged to develop school rating systems that factor students' college progress into the state's requests for waivers from No Child Left Behind.
