We therefore incorporate a rolling baseline into the model such that the observation y is represented as a smooth baseline u with peaks on top v and noise, and solve the optimization problem: min ||x||1+u||β||1+½||r||22 subject to u+v+r = y, Ax = v, and Δ2u = β.
For a student who scored 10/20 in the NL section of the pre-test, then 12/20 for post-test 1, and 15/20 for post-test 2, the outcomes would be represented as: 0% (baseline), +10% (post-test 1), +25% (post-test 2).
Baseline correction computes the local minimum value, draws a baseline represented as the background noise, and subtracts the baseline from the spectrum.
Similar to Yim et al., we computed ratios (referred to as "response ratios") of the dopamine response (represented as a percent over baseline) to tissue concentrations of ethanol.
The NP content (represented as % change from baseline) versus time graphs for several selected peptides are shown in Figure 2. It should be noted that although several of these NPs share sequence motifs and thus some y-ions, their profiles appear different.
