This paper explores different facets of open access repositories developed and hosted by the BRICS nations.
The region has a long tradition of regional information networking to provide Open Access to its research results, in regional subject repositories that started with bibliographic records in the 80's and now extend to added full-texts; as well as in multi disciplinary regional peer-reviewed journal portals and digital repositories developed since the end of the 90's.
