"repartee" is a correct and usable word in written English
You can use the word to refer to a witty or humorous exchange of words and ideas, typically between two people. Example sentence: The dinner party guests were entertained by the repartee between the two hosts.
"So you're resting, are you?" they chortle, before grinning at the sheer brilliance of their repartee.
