Peer-to-peer car rental marketplace RelayRides is moving to end support for hourly rentals, due to lackluster growth in that side of its business.
A study from Airports Council International found that 26% of airports have DVD rentals ("Due to a maintenance problem, your flight has been delayed three hours, care to rent the Transformers movie?"), 48% have children's play areas, 11% have videogame stations, 28% have live music, 34% have massage services and 17% have nail salons.
The remainder of this article will deal with this decision but it comes down to the different economics of DVD rentals due to "the first sale doctrine," which gives Netflix a complete library of films and the fact that the first-sale doctrine doesn't apply to digital downloads.

The company ended its hourly rental feature in October, due to lackluster demand in that area, and is betting the future of the business on multiday rentals.
