The remaining validated PMZ and AMZ samples, cVg1-like and non- cVg1-like samples were pooled in TRIzol reagent (Ambion, Invitrogen, UK).
Of the remaining validated ethanol-sensitive miRNAs, miR-135a and miR-135b are well-conserved and predicted to target Complexin 1 and Complexin 2 (TargetScan, Release 6.2), which are involved in modulating neurotransmitter release [ 40].
