Using the median diameter and sorting index as descriptors of gravels, the five interstitial Luciogobius species analyzed were largely grouped into three habitat types: L. grandis inhabiting relatively large, less sorted gravel sediments, L. platycephalus inhabiting intermediate-sized gravel sediments, and L. elongatus, L. adapel, and L. sp. inhabiting small, well-sorted gravel sediments.
