Brynolf et al. (2014a, b) made a life cycle assessment of different alternatives to fulfil ECA sulphur and NOx tier III regulations concluding that neither of the alternatives showed any significant impact on climate change compared to HFO operation.
These discrepancies suggest that mechanisms of cellular regulation concluded from E. coli may not reflect a general model for bacteria, even not within the same class of γ proteobacteria.

Supporters of tobacco regulation have concluded that menthol is so hugely important to the industry and preferred by so many smokers that proposing a ban could scuttle any chances for tobacco regulation.
Such regulation, they concluded, would undermine their primary goals to promote universal access by discouraging investment in smart, next-generation networks and raising prices for ordinary consumers.
"In light of the quality of the evidence presented in support of the regulation, we conclude that a continued injunction against enforcement of the regulation would not serve the public interest," she wrote.
As Brooks concluded, regulations "are not a big factor in our short-term problems" and "are not tanking the economy".
And her adviser should have told her the regulations, although, he concluded, "The truth is that most of us don't".
