In multicellular organisms, this controller consists of two basic mechanisms by which integration is achieved chemical regulation and nervous regulation.
Functional enrichment analysis of genes differentially expressed in DLB indicated downregulation of genes associated with myelination, neurogenesis, and regulation of nervous system development.
Gene ontology analysis revealed that upregulated transcripts of SOD1 +/A272C motor neurons were associated with regulation of nervous system activity and signal transduction, etc. (Fig. S5D, S5E, and Table S2).
The number of predicted functional signals in 3'UTRs correlated with sequence conservation, indicating a significant level of evolutionary conserved posttranscriptional regulation in nervous tissue.
Among these are the regulation of nervous system during both development and injury repair [23], [24], multiple roles in the immune system [25], [26], adipocytes [27], endothelium [28], [29], and chondrocytes and bones [30] [32].
AP-2 proteins are known to play relevant roles in neuron gene expression regulation and nervous system development [ 2, 3].
SOX14 may have a major role in the regulation of nervous system development and it is a mediator of the neuronal death process [ 39].
These differences correlate with our expression data from male and female heads, with significant enrichment of genes relating to the regulation of nervous system and mushroom body development.
The list of shared genes, categorized into functional GO groups using g: Profiler software (Table 1), are significantly enriched in neuronal functions, including voltage-gated cation channel activity, transmission of nerve pulse, neuron projection, and regulation of nervous system development.
The result is shown in Figure 2. Clearly, proteins with O-GlcNAc/Phos sites were significantly enriched in oxidation-reduction process (p value: 1.89 E − 05), nuclear transport (p value: 2.32 E − 04), and regulation of nervous system development (p value: 2.32 E − 04).
