As shown in Figure 1, the mode of mechanical ventilation, expressed as days of use per 1,000 days of invasive mechanical ventilation, changed over time with a significant increase of pressure support ventilation (PSV) and pressure regulated volume control (PRVC), and a significant decrease of other considered modes.
