Most central metabolic pathways are regulated at a few key steps, typically through enzymes whose activity involves the hydrolysis of ATP.
While over half the genes are estimated to be regulated at the transcriptional level, few regulatory motifs and transcription regulators have been found.
In each of these tissues, few subcategories were regulated at all investigated times of day and regulation usually differed in intensity, thus supporting the trend of diversified cellular responses in dependence of time of day.
