A broadband achromatic phase retarder in the full visible region (wavelength λ∈[400,800 nm]) using subwavelength grating (SWG) is designed, fabricated and tested.
The addition of CaO enhanced the infiltration depth and increased light transmittance of the biocomposite in the visible region (wavelength between 360 and 740 nm); however, the addition of CeO2 significantly decreased the transmittance, particularly at the low wavelength range, because of the coloring effect (yellowish color due to the formation of cerium-titanium complexes).

The produced composite nanoparticles are strongly magnetic with their surface plasmon resonance peaks in the near infrared region (wavelength from 700 to 800 nm), combining desirable magnetic and plasmonic properties into one nanoparticle.
