Interestingly, B. amyloliquefaciens SB5 exhibited a highly active NAD(P H-regenerating activity when comP H-regeneratingost studied Bactivityhost B. subtilis 168 and B. subtilis 3C5N, our organic solvent-tolerant host previously reported (Siriphongphaewhen al. 2012) (Table 2).
Importantly, muscle areas with minimal X-gal staining, but surrounded by areas with high number of blue fibers (Fig. 3j, inset) displayed peripheral nucleation (Fig. 3k [magnification of white dotted box in 3j]), indicating no regenerating activity.
These fractions also lacked in vivo regenerating activities [ 32].
In tissue homogenates and microsomes this activity was bi-directional, containing both 11β-dehydrogenase (glucocorticoid inactivating) and 11β-reductase (glucocorticoid regenerating) activities, fuelled by NADP(H) as co-substrate, and had a modest affinity (high nM Km) for glucocorticoids (Fig. 1).
