Indeed, several components of female fitness declined toward the edge of the bagworms' distributional range, including survival during the pupal stage, mating success, fecundity, and overwintering survival of progeny, resulting in an overall reduction in reproductive success of females at northern locations, and in extreme cases, total reproductive failure.
