The reduction in false alerts is achieved by the fact that the DS rule assumes all evidence sources to be equally reliable, while the proposed rule incorporates variable reliability of IDS measured either from conflict between IDS or from true positive rate of IDS.
Nestor et al., (2007)[ 29] found that a reduction in visual alerting cues correlated with a reduced volume of the cingulum bundle.
This assumes that the reduction in ignoring such alerts by accepting responsibility for following up on abnormalities in laboratory results is contingent on the feedback they received.
Our experiments on a large real-world intrusion data set show that our approach can achieve a significant reduction in the number of alert messages generated by the local correlation stage with negligible false negatives compared to a centralized scheme.
This may result from programming deficiencies [ 25], lack of required information, misclassification of alerts [ 34], among others leading to reduction in specificity and sensitivity of alerts.
