With the advent of digital recording and compact discs in the mid 1980s, the need for noise reduction declined and the company successfully concentrated its efforts on the development of sound systems for cinema.
In some countries, the significant declining API has not been of constant magnitude; in Belize, the annual rate of reduction declined from 29.69% in the 1994 2000 period to 12.89% in the subsequent period.
