We analyzed our experience with this modified filter (Cook Medical, Bloomington, Ind) from July 1, 2007 to December 31 , 2008and compared it to our experience with the standard filter (Günther Tulip, Cook Medical, Bloomington, Ind) from January 1, 2006 through December 31 , 2008to determine if adoption of the modified filter reduced tilting and delivered a discernible clinical benefit.
In July 2007, our group began to use a modified conical inferior vena cava filter with additional stabilizing struts designed to reduce tilting of retrievable filters.
However, it is more important to consider that low-PI pelves have lower sagittal ROM, and this could result in reduced back tilt in dynamic conditions that combine hip flexion and upholding the spinopelvic balance, with potentially enhanced femoroacetabular engagement (Table 1).
In this study, we observed more scapular protraction in rest position for affected arms, elevated scapular protraction and lateral rotation, and reduced backward tilt during motion.
For anteflexion, the scapular orientations of the affected shoulders also showed slightly increased protraction, slightly increased lateral rotation, and slightly reduced backward tilt.
