We developed a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial designed to test the hypotheses that hands-on treatment procedures administered to individuals following ankle sprains during the post-acute injury period can improve short-, intermediand-, and long-term disablement, as well as reduce the risk for re-injury.
This approach is consistent with previous disablement frameworks [ 4- 8] but in contrast to the Handicap Creation Process and International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health ICFF) which adopted positive terminology to reduce the stigma associated with disability [ 5, 9].
As a reaction, it decides to execute actions that can reduce the typical query execution times (e.g., disabling other queries as discussed in Section 'Identification of candidate queries for disablement'. In the reflective control loop, the long term memory is taken into account to take proactive actions (i.e, before the execution of the actual queries).
Proactively treating the causes of disablement; physical impairments, pain, and immobility, can prolong functional independence, improve QoL and, potentially, reduce utilization.
