Suitable modification of the methodologies needs to be further studied to adjust for such informative censoring mechanisms related to terminal events in the recurrent event analysis [ 26].
Analysis at 1 and 6 months will cover, for all such events, and those coded as a fall: the proportion of patients that call 999, attend ED, get admitted or die; survival analysis of the time to the first subsequent emergency contact; the mean number of further emergency contacts adjusted for time at risk, excluding days in hospital or after death; and recurrent event analysis where feasible.
