"reconcile oneself" is a correct and usable phrase in written English.
It means to accept or make peace with a difficult or unpleasant situation. You can use it when talking about coming to terms with a conflict or problem, accepting a difficult truth, or making peace with a difficult person or situation. Example: After years of disagreements, it took a lot of effort for John and his brother to reconcile themselves and mend their relationship. Despite the devastating loss, Jane was able to reconcile herself to the fact that her dream of becoming a doctor was no longer possible.
It is impossible to reconcile oneself with the notion that people who call themselves patriots so tenaciously resist any change that affects their feeding trough or their ability to get away with anything.
