"But meeting planners usually follow our recommendations," said Peggy G. DeProspero, travel director for the G.S.A.
"We support these recommendations," said Bill Phillips, the president of the New York Charter Schools Association.
"Congress can accept or throw away our recommendations," said Gilbert E. Carmichael, chairman of the council.
"Card members trust other card members' recommendations," said Leslie Berland, Amex's senior vice president for digital partnerships and development.
It is "a very balanced set of recommendations," said Dr. Sundeep Khosla, a Mayo Clinic endocrinologist and the society's president.
"The scene featuring the cyclist on a road without wearing a helmet undermined the[se] recommendations," said the ASA.
"I am not going to get out in front of those recommendations," said Governor Pataki, a Republican.
"We believe these results challenge current medical practice and recommendations," said Dr. Costanzo, who predicted many patients might benefit.
"We disagree with the financial impact of the recommendations," said Michael Fleischer, executive director of the authority.
"It's fair to say board members knew about it," Mr. Christensen, who supports the recommendations, said yesterday.
While the F.D.A. is not bound to follow the advisory committee's decision, the agency generally follows its recommendations, said Shelly Burgess, a spokeswoman for the F.D.A.
