Many viral components are recognized in a manner similar to other pathogens, for example using pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) including Toll like receptors (TLRs) in mammals and other LRR-containing intracellular receptors [2], [3] such as R proteins that recognize viral components in plants that in some cases elicit cell death inducing pathways [4] [6].
