Today, Google noted it has received removal requests "on all sorts of content" — listing the likes of "serious criminal records, embarrassing photos, instances of online bullying and name-calling, decades-old allegations, negative press stories, and more".
Only weeks after receiving removals notices, she was sent a British passport.
Several people in the industry said that 150 or more of the 650 on the list are scheduled for removal in 2012; the bureau has received 158 removal applications so far this year.
To put this into perspective: in the first half of 2011, Google was only asked to remove 757 items in the U.S. and only received 92 removal requests.
And the numbers are dwarfed by the volume of requests Google receives for removal of copyrighted content.
Google said it had received copyright removal requests for over 4.3 million Web addresses in the last 30 days, according to the company's transparency report.
Just over the last 30 days, for example, it received copyright removal notices for more than 4.3 million URLs.
Sodium metal (Riedel-de Haen, Seelze, Germany) was used as received after removal of the paraffin oil with hexane.
"Google often receives fraudulent removal requests from people impersonating others, trying to harm competitors, or improperly seeking to suppress legal information," the firm said.
Since it started giving rights owners the ability to report potential copyright infringement in 2009, Google says, it's been getting "much more data by copyright owners about infringing content online". Just over the last 30 days, for example, it received copyright removal notices for more than 4.3 million URLs.
