In this section, we will show that this difference in ion precipitation is reasonable when considering the motion of Regions b (i.e., Aurora B) and c (i.e., Aurora C). Figure 8 shows when and where Auroras B and C appeared and how they moved.
Some averages reported in the literature, in combination with data from meteorological stations, suggest ~200 mm year−1 at Kandahar might be a reasonable estimate of annual precipitation, if it can be assumed that data collected in the 1980s are unreliable (Fig. 7b).
