"It's really three events plus a biathlon," said Eli Bremer, a top American modern pentathlete who finished 22nd in Beijing but third at last month's World Cup final in Portugal.
"You can't compare the two events, really, because we're filming a television show, and they really are having a dinner," Bee told HuffPost before the show's taping, while crew members milled around, wearing shirts saying "FREE PRESS".
However, two events really pushed the issue on to Fifa's agenda this year: one was Peru's announcement that it may be holding World Cup qualifiers - against stronger teams - in Cuzco, 3,400m above sea level, even though the national team has typically played in Lima, located at under 200m.
It helps to kick off a festival with one or two events that really say what you are about.
[Laughs] It would be a bit of a miracle because in that role I'd train really hard for the first two events, swimming and cycling, and cut back my training on running.
Actually it was two events.
"I had a great warm-up and then I don't know to be honest, I had been on really good form," Simmonds, who has two events left, said.
"Putting it in place and implementing it are really two different things, and one quirky event can really change the situation".
Those two events are leading to really robust growth in China.
