There were 94 CSF samples with identical titres, accounting for 51.6% of the CSF samples with both VDRL-reactive and TRUST-reactive (94/182, shadowed cells of figure 1).
Secondary syphilis was defined as a clinically compatible case characterized by a maculopapular rash and in many cases, lymphadenopathy, and a laboratory test showing a reactive RPR, or TRUST and TPHA or TPPA.
