Our results show that, in patients with well-documented GH deficiency, both the frequency of circulating sjTRECs (marker of thymic T cell output) in PBMCs and the sj/βTREC ratio (marker of intrathymic precursor T cell proliferation) are significantly decreased one month after GH withdrawal.
Analysis of each of these variables by age showed a significant age trend for BMI, waist-hip ratio (marker of central adiposity), alcohol use, systolic blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, prevalence of diabetes, leptin, adiponectin, IL-6, bilirubin, and albumin with increasing age.
This GLUT4 NFκB ratio marker approach was most effective in detecting the effect of dioxin at low-to-medium levels of exposure, corresponding to the lower three quartiles in the comparison group.
We detected elevated PDE-5 and PKG protein expression in the DiabCo group (Fig. 3a) whereas the p-VASP/VASP ratio (marker of PKG activity) was significantly reduced, showing severe deterioration of PKG signalling in DM (Fig. 3a).
