However, this may have been due to a decline in this patient's serum creatinine as a result of poor nutrition and muscle atrophy prior to the patient's death, which occurred within a month of TDF discontinuation, rather than an actual improvement in renal function; his weight decreased from 76 to 62 kg in the 4 months prior to discontinuation of the TDF.
Findings indicate that clinicians usually report multiple reasons for discontinuation, rather than a single reason for each patient.
This limitation may help explain the finding that a lack of substance use disorder was predictive of switching, because substance users are prone to study discontinuation rather than to switch medications [ 14, 51].
Because these microbiological outcomes were better associated with soil exposure during or after the start of treatment rather than before treatment, the discontinuation of soil exposure is likely to influence treatment outcomes (Tables 3 and Table 4).
