When we analyze the genotypes of all 40 + 1 rat strains we find that we can differentiate nine distinct clusters.
While we were documenting the sequence variability of the rat CD94L class Ib molecule RT-BM1 among rat strains, we compared the rat class Ia and CD94L sequences to those of mouse and human [ 28].

The rat strain that we used is the Long Evans rats which are known to exhibit most robust learning performances in all laboratory rodent species and they are the favorite strain for many neuroscientists who conduct in vivo recording experiments.
