Rat basophilic leukemia cell line RBL-1 [22] was provided by Dr. Tomas Mustelin (The Burnham Institute for Medical Research, La Jolla, CA, USA) and the cells were cultured in RPMI 1640 (Gibco BRL, Carlsbad, CA, USA) medium supplemented with 10% (v/v) fetal calf serum (Gibco), 1 mM L-glutamine (Fluka, Buchs, Switzerland), and antibiotics.
