These conditions were however compatible with the isolation of very rare tester-specific transcripts (0.0005% of messenger RNA) in the libraries.
We screened 768, 4608, 2683 and 4608 clones from the rab1, bov1, rab2 and rab3 libraries, respectively, for the presence of rare, tester-specific transcripts, using hybridisation with probes corresponding to the exogenous transcripts added.
