A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, editors at HuffPost got together to rank characters in the "Star Wars" universe, from Jar Jar Binks to best.
In 2007, Tifa was named the eighth best character of all time in Dengeki PlayStations retrospective awards feature about the original PlayStation, the third highest ranked character from Final Fantasy VII.
Much attention has been given to the importance of taxonomic rank and character differences between species (Vane-Wright et al. 1991; Faith 1994).

Belle was placed first on E!'s ranking of the Disney Princesses for her lack of vanity, relatability and literacy, while Cosmopolitan ranked the character fourth.
Kureishi, meanwhile, has ranked the "character" of Hermann as "probably one of [Kafka's] best literary creations or fictions".
