The low level group had iFLC ≤10 mg/dL (including patients with iFLC within normal ranges listed above), 10.1 to 100 mg/dL in the intermediate group and >100 mg/dL for the high group.
Randomly selected dimensionless parameter values could not exceed the default ranges listed for each parameter type.
We evaluated the impact of parameter uncertainty by conducting one-way sensitivity analyses on all model parameters over the ranges listed in Table 2.

Thus, the calculation of HF, LF, VLF and ULF using the ranges listed above serve to facilitate data reporting and comparison, but they are nonetheless arbitrary ranges with diverse physiological input.
Screen 1 was designed to identify the best N type and concentration tested, and these are based upon the average literature values (Additional file 1: Table S3) and the concentration ranges listed in Table 1.
