The Dzungarian Gobi is located in a natural basin flanked by the southern tip of the Altai Mountain range to the north and east and a mountain range along the border to China in the south.
The Singalila Range separates Sikkim from Nepal in the west, while the Dongkya Range forms the border with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the east.
Of these the western, the Akademii (Akademiya) Nauk Range, and the central, Zulumart, are relatively short; the eastern, the Sarykol Range, forms the border between Tajikistan and China.
Another bone of contention is the Siachen glacier, a contested triangle of territory high up between the Karakoram Pass and the Karakoram Range, on the border with China.
Mount Stanley, also called Mount Ngaliéma, part of the Ruwenzori Range on the border between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, in east- central Africa.
