The investigator had the flexibility to readjust the doses as necessary (between weeks 44 and 66) as long as the dose remained in the range of MPH-LA 40 80 mg/day (Fig. 1b).
The study consisted of the following three treatment phases (Fig. 1): (1) The double- blind dose-confirmation phase was a 9-week, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel-group period consisting of a 3-week titration stage and a 6-week fixed-dose stage to confirm the effective dose range of MPH-LA.
Hughes's pitch repertoire has varied over the years, although his main pitch has consistently been a four-seam fastball at 92 95 mph, and he has also relied on a spike curveball in the range of 73 77 mph.
The results confirmed a clinically effective dose range of 40 80 mg MPH-LA daily as measured by the change from baseline to the end of the 9-week, fixed-dose double- blind dose-confirmation phase in DSM-IV ADHD RS and SDS total scores.
During the first month, the children were medicated with an individual dose of MPH, ranging from 5 to 40 mg/day, equivalent to a mean of 0.54 mg/body weight/day, and during the subsequent 3 months with a dose of MPH ranging from 15 to 45 mg/body weight/day, equivalent to 0.74 mg/body weight/day.
2) Within a certain range, expression levels of MPH-correlated genes display either a linear positive or a linear negative correlation with heterosis, resulting in a continuous relationship between expression level and the phenotype.
The average body weight was 45.5 ± 16.2 kg (range, 22.8 77.1 kg), and the average dose of MPH was equivalent to a mean of 0.83 mg/body weight/day.
Because the participants in this study had a normal range of IQs and no comorbidities, MPH intake might not have affected the CANTAB® scores directly.
The present study addresses an unmet medical need for robust dose range, efficacy, and safety data on the use of MPH in this currently underserved population.
