For urine analysis, standard reference urine (Seronorm trace elements urine) was used and the recovery was 105% of certified values (certified value is 12.3 μg L-1).
Measured PBDE levels in SRM 2585 ranged from 78 to 130% of certified values.
For the SRM's, NIST 2704 and PACS-2 analyzed in this study, recoveries ranged from 96 to 107% of certified values for THg.
The concentrations obtained for the SRM were always within the 95% confidence interval of certified values.
Results from external TOC check standards (Aqua Solutions) were always within 10% of certified values.
DOLT-4 (n = 5) and DORM-3 (n = 5) were analyzed with samples and agreed within 10% of certified values.
Standard reference material TORT-3 (n = 4) was analyzed as an external standard and agreed within 5% of certified values.
However, the number of certified values for OCP/PCB congeners in certified reference materials is more limited (approximately 23 PCB congeners and 15 OCPs in NIST 1588a cod liver).
The good recovery of certified value in both methods indicated the absence of interferences.
