For this present specific research purposes, Gamma rainfall distribution function is used, aiming to constitute the powerful tool which most perfectly fits the so far recorded daily rainfall data distribution in Kavala city area.
Figure 2 shows the average monthly variation in the number of presumptive and confirmed cases between 2006 and 2013 in Makokou between 1990 and 2009 as a function of rainfall (rainfall data for 2010 2013 are unavailable).
The "Local rainfall as a function of coastline length" section describes the general feature of tropical rainfall concentration near coastlines.
The "Regional rainfall as a function of 'coastline density'" section explains the largest regional rainfall over the IMC in terms of the concentration of coastal diurnal cycle rainfall.

In general, ANFIS was found to be a reliable alternative for HEC-HMS in cases whereby not all rainfall stations are functioning.
To investigate changes in precipitation types under GHG and ALL, following previous work (Lau and Wu 2006, 2011), we have computed the model rainfall probability distribution functions (pdf) over the ASM land region and compared with observations from APHRODITE (Yatagai et al. 2012).
This means that a modelling approach where the wash-off process is predicted as a continuous function of rainfall intensity and duration is not appropriate.
However, the rainfall percentage as a function of precipitation threshold is fairly stable in the tropics and subtropics (e.g. tropics: 4.5% including true-zeros, 3.9% less than 0.01 mm h−1 rainfall occurrences and 3.1% for events larger than 0.1 mm h−1).
Results showed that sheet erosion rate increased as a power function with rainfall intensity and slope gradient with R2 = 0.95 and Nash Sutcliffe model efficiency (NSE) = 0.87.
