A randomised, double-blind crossover design was used to investigate the effects of lingual nerve block on spontaneous burning pain and a possible correlation with the effects of topical clonazepam, the patient's response to a psychological questionnaire, and the taste and heat thresholds.
Then each woman was asked to complete a questionnaire and a taste test in which they had four different snack options: Chocolate, grapes, chips and carrot sticks.
They were also given four filler questionnaires during the taste test (as in Lawrence et al., 2015) to keep them occupied whilst being exposed to the food.
