The aim of this reflection paper is to stress pedagogical reflection and educational research about the crucial role of selection, education, training of teacher – with focus on primary teacher education – and of "continued construction" of their qualifications in relation to the very fast-changing social and cultural, as well as the important issue concerning the quality of teaching and training.
In this paper we wish to look carefully at academic qualifications in relation to ethnic origin, initially in the Youth Cohort Study (YCS), a representative, population sample of 16-year olds in England and Wales, in whom performance at GCSE is well-described, as also are many aspects of performance in post-compulsory education.
The case of missing advanced qualification data in relation to the prediction of conditional offers could be considered something of an exception to this; when these missing data were imputed the findings showed a relatively greater degree of variation compared with the results for the non-imputed data.
"The figures suggest that there is a diminishing number of institutions which require the highest qualification levels, and that there is some convergence in relation to entry qualifications to full-time undergraduate courses," the report states.
Therefore, such proteins were not put into the next qualification phase of this study, while the proteins chosen for qualification were seemingly novel proteins discovered in relation to breast cancer.
The two areas where significant differences were present were those of characteristics of the two groups in relation to qualifications, age and experience and from the Chinese group there emerged a pattern of answers to suggest that group membership was more important to this cohort than the Australian group.
