The main neuronal model of our review will be pyramidal neurons from the mammalian cerebral cortex or hippocampus, which can extend investigative protrusions to facilitate directed migration from their place of origin to their final destination in the forebrain, and subsequently migrate by climbing up scaffolds of specialised progenitor cells – the radial glia [ 28- 31].
