Transmission electron microscopy, using two-beam defect analysis, confirmed pyramidal dislocation slip of the type a/3⟨11¯23⟩{10¯11}.
Adult rat offspring (low LG n = 7, high LG n = 8) were used for morphological analysis of pyramidal neurons of layer 2/3 of the somatosensory cortex using the Golgi-Cox method as described previously [12].
The selected pyramidal neurons for morphometric analysis of their basal dendrites were located in layer III of the parahippocampal cortex from Patient P9 and in the pyramidal cell layer of the CA1 from Patients P9, P13 and P14 (Fig. 1A).
To study if the functional impairment we observed in CA1 neurons correlated with structural lesions in dendrites, we assessed the number of branches emanating from individual CA1 pyramidal neurons using Scholl analysis (Fig. 5A).
We found similar effects in the somatosensory cortex, where the analysis in pyramidal neurons from layer V revealed a decrease in the frequency of spontaneous IPSCs in double KO mice (Fig. 7 D, E), while the amplitude of IPSCs was not affected (Fig. 7 F).
