In motile cilia of human airway epithelium, some bitter receptors are expressed in proximal bands and others more distally [36].
These spectral signatures are best seen by CD, where proximal bands are often fortuitously resolvable because they have opposite phases (a property absent in absorption spectra).
We also excluded CNV calls within hypervariable centromere proximal bands and those overlapping immunoglobulin regions, as both are known to be prone to artifactual CNV calling and thus false discoveries.
The top and bottom promoter proximal bands show increased cleavage, indicating that the promoter is in an open conformation (the black arrow heads in the right panel of Figure 4B), consistent with the loss of silencing in this strain.
