"We believe quarterly provision expenses and quarterly total credit losses have peaked," the bank's chief credit and risk officer, Mike Loughlin, said in a statement.
At the end of the fourth quarter, loss provision expenses totaled $4.5 billion, or 2.89% of loans, up from 2.73% of loans at the end of the third quarter.
"[Bank One is] leveraged to earnings improvement with the improved credit environment," says David George, analyst at A.G. Edwards, pointing out that the company will have lower provision expenses when credit costs fall.
"The majority of the second quarter's provision expense continues to be related to ongoing issues in the commercial and residential real estate markets in Florida," the bank holding company said in a statement.
"We currently expect 2009 net charge-offs to be higher than 2008 levels and provision expense to continue to exceed charge-offs, resulting in continued growth in our loan loss reserves," the company said.
Combined with a provision targeting expenses related to employee entertainment, this part of the Senate bill saves $23 billion over 10 years. .
VmWare explains, "Provisioning efforts and related expenses are dramatically lower because there are no physical machines to rollout...DaaS also minimizes time-consuming, expensive help-desk support.
NOTE 6 - OFFICE EXPENSES Provision has been made for estimated general office expenses.
The wide range of time and resources spent on informal care provision demonstrates the broad economic impact and considerable burden of informal care provision with concurrent expenses at a personal and societal level.
BSB, based in Binghamton, N.Y., also said it expected a third-quarter loss of about $1.7 million because of a higher loan loss provision and merger expenses of about $2 million.
The provision for educator expenses was scheduled to expire at the end of 2003, but the Working Families Tax Relief Act of 2004 extended it through the end of 2005.
