Three separate projects - "One Saliva Bubble," "Up at the Lake" and "Ronnie Rocket" - ended up in legal limbo when the producer Dino de Laurentiis, for whom the director had made both "Blue Velvet" and "Dune," went bankrupt.

Participants contacted during the 5th‐year measurement wave (N = 1,027 = 81% of the total cohort) were asked to volunteer to participate in the genetic arm of the project and provide a saliva sample for DNA extraction, and 953 (93%) of those asked to volunteer did so.
First, we had to ensure that the sequence variants we obtained were truly in the mitochondrial and not in the nuclear genome (since the latter contains partial copies of the former [ 13]), and also that they were not derived from exogenous sources (DNA for this project was extracted from saliva).
