Coordinated effort along the professional continuum is the key to delivering both effectiveness and efficiency.
First, it broadens the theoretical investigation of professional services to consider all processes and people along the professional continuum – from most innovative to commodified.
This means working to elevate the status of the teaching profession in society, to emphasize and support teacher quality and improvement throughout the professional continuum, and to commit to funding advanced research on the teaching profession.
Decision-making in health care has been conceptualized as a process taking place between patient and health professional on a continuum between "paternalistic", "shared", and "informed" [ 1, 2].
The lead professional for the continuum of the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods will be the criterion for the classification of care as caseload midwifery or routine (medical doctor-led) care [ 19].
