Further evidence of the significance of the smell of books in the collective olfactory memory is the number of scented products themed on books and libraries (over 30 candles, perfumes and oils) available from a single London store in 2015.
The store also has seasonal appeal, offering a slew of products themed for Halloween, while other retailers are engaging in heavy markdowns to make room for holiday merchandise, says Jennifer Black, analyst at Well Fargo Van Kasper.
"Our design team was seeking something that would resonate beyond just fashion but also fit with our white product theme," said Rene Holguin, senior vice president for global creative services for the Levi's brand.
Taking the pride-of-product theme one step further, Gastrologik also operates a shop next door, called Speceriet, which sells the same high-quality produce and herbs, fresh seafood, rare cuts of meat, homemade breads, Swedish cheeses and hard-to-find products served at the restaurant.
Based on a survey of Korean smokers aged between 18 and 54 years (450 male and 50 female), PM assessed the importance of different product themes and attributes by gender.
Mr. Iger said that Disney plans to integrate Club Penguin with its other businesses, including consumer products and theme parks.
Other Disney business units like consumer products and theme parks have also been taking a hard look at their staffing levels as part of a review initiated last year.
As for Disney.com, it must serve an array of products: 13 theme parks, games, children's books, TV, movies, music, Broadway and online worlds like Club Penguin.
Still, Mr. Iger, who has described film as important fuel for the rest of the company's products, like theme park rides and merchandise, will not want to wait too long to answer the questions hanging over Walt Disney Studios.
