Inadequate bowel preparation can result in missed lesions, cancelled procedures, increased procedural time and a potential increase in complication rates.
The entire procedural time for each procedure was separately measured and recorded for all the patients.
In a European multi-centre trial, it was demonstrated that high-quality bowel preparation was associated with a higher rate of complete examination, shortened procedural time and lower rate of procedure difficulty when compared with low-quality bowel preparation [ 6].
Poor bowel preparation deters procedural success and may lead to missed polyps and cancer [ 13], prolonged procedural time to clean the colon, and cancelled procedures [ 14].
"They start with this point," he added, "day after day, and then the decision is taken and the procedural time comes, and they begin to shoot".
It can be done easily, safely and significantly further shortened the procedural time.
Total procedural time was 21 minutes (13 to 30 minutes) with filter time of 5 ± 1 minutes.
This fact has been allowed for by inclusion of time spent scanning in the procedural time recorded for one paediatric hospital.
The described technique certainly increases the complexity and procedural time by introducing an additional patch and interrupted sutures as compared to the original Daggett's technique (Fig. 1).
Mean procedural time was 160 ± 60 minutes.
Interestingly, there is a pronounced difference in mean procedural time.
