The corresponding reporter strain, PAG, was up-regulated by the same treatment (2.74-fold), demonstrating a good correlation between the promoter-probe methodology and native protein expression in L. interrogans, suggesting that LigA is post-transcriptionally regulated (Table 2).
In this study, we sought to develop a new genetic tool to help elucidating the biology of Leptospira spp. We found that our promoter-probe methodology is useful for assessing promoter activity under defined conditions.
The results obtained in this study, by the use of the promoter-probe methodology described, allowed us to establish a cut-off based on the determined fluorescence levels (Table 2).
